In 2008 the Management of the Regent Theatre in Ipswich appointed Lawrence King and Charcoalblue Theatre Consultants to produce a Feasibility Report setting out a Development Plan for the renewal of their Stage House and Backstage Facilities and the refurbishment of the Front of House foyers.
The Theatre have been engaged in a long term plan to secure the theatre?s future and have successfully completed a full refurbishment of this Grade 2 listed 1920s auditorium. The existing stage and backstage facilities are currently below the standards required as a national touring venue and are restricting the type of shows that it can attract.
The study proposes an entirely new stage and flytower with full flying facility and a new back of house accommodation capable of accommodating up to 80 performers with new dressing rooms and a large multi-purpose rehearsal room and catering suite.
The study also addresses the shortcomings of the foyers which have been neglected over the years and will require refurbishing to the standards expected by the audiences attending the major new shows that the refurbished theatre will attract.
